.224 Weatherby Ammunition

Roy Weather developed the .224 Weatherby Magnum as a sporting cartridge in 1963. It is made for exclusive use with Weatherby firearms and when it was first released, it was marketed as the .224 Weatherby Varmintmaster. Weatherby changed the name when the Varmintmaster rifles were discontinued in 1994. In terms of perform, it offers a similar action to the .22-250 and the .225 Winchester. This is typically an expensive round, which could be why it doesn’t have a huge following and is typically chosen by gun collectors rather than routine shooters.
