.303 British Ammunition

Also known as: 303 British

The .303 British was the primary British and Commonwealth military cartridge used from 1889 to the 1950’s. It was eventually replaced by the superior 7.62x51mm NATO. It originally used black powder and was paired with the Lee-Metford rifle. In present day, the .303 has been a popular choice at military surplus sales. It is primarily chosen for sporting use in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada although it is sometimes seen in South Africa and even the United States.
