Also known as: 307 Winchester
Winchester released the 307 cartridge in 1982 for use in the .300 Savage lever-action rifle’s tubular magazine. It is almost identical to the .308 Win but it has thicker case walls and a rimmed base. Winchester produced only one model to work with the 307 caliber, the Big Bore Model 94 Angle Eject. Later, Marlin produced a few rifles that would chamber to the 307 and some of those are still available today. For best performance, the 307 is typically handloaded and paired with flat-nosed bullets. It is most often used for sport shooting in Spain, where laws prohibit civilians from using any military caliber cartridges.
