Also known as: 338 lapua, .338 Lapua Mag, .338 Lapua Magnum
The .338 Lapua Magnum is a centerfire cartridge that was produced for long-range sniper rifles. It was used in combat during the Afghanistan War and the Iraq War and proved effective to penetrate military body armor at distances up to 1000 meters. In late 2009, British sniper Craig Harrison used the 338 Lapua to set a new record for longest confirmed sniper kill in combat, while shooting from 2,465 meters. While it is used frequently in military settings, it is also a popular choice for hunters and civilians. It is easily capable of taking down any game, even the largest varieties in Africa.
